BELTON –
Belton is the Bell County seat. Charming storefronts characterize the historic commercial district, the center of which is the impressive Bell County Courthouse, built in 1885.

Belton is home to an estimated 19,000 people. New residents continue to be drawn to Belton by outstanding schools, great parks and by the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Belton has over 160 acres of parkland located throughout the city. It is situated along Belton Lake, with a 1.5 mile hike and bike trail that runs through central Belton providing a scenic tour through three city parks.

COPPERAS COVE –
Copperas Cove, located in Coryell County, lies about 210 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico and 110 miles southwest of Dallas. The climate is temperate, with temperatures ranging from an average minimum of 33°F in January to an average maximum of 97° in July. The average annual rainfall is thirty-two inches. The population in 2010 was 32,032.

HARKER HEIGHTS –
Harker Heights is a fairly young city, having been incorporated in 1960. The city has no major industry, which is why most of its residents work in Killeen, Fort Hood, or other areas of Bell County. Harker Heights has four recreation areas as well as the Killeen Municipal Golf Course and Stillhouse Hollow Lake. On average, the warmest month is July, the coolest is January and the maximum average precipitation occurs in May. The population as of 2000 was 17,308.

KEMPNER –
Kempner Texas is located on US HWY 190, 10 minutes west of Copperas Cove and 15 minutes East of Lampasas Texas. It is a great family community. It offers country homes on small acreage tracts of land usually between 1 to 5 acres.

KILLEEN –
Killeen, located in the western portion of Bell County, is about 40 miles north of Austin on U.S. Highway 190. Until Camp Hood (recommissioned as Fort Hood in 1950) was created as a military training base in the 1940’s, Killeen was a small farm trade center. The population of 1,300 in 1949 reached 86,911 in 2000. Like it’s neighbors, Killeen also has a temperate climate, and an average annual rainfall of thirty-six inches.

LAMPASAS
–
Lampasas covers an area of 714 square miles near the center of Texas. In 1990 the county population was 13,521, with almost one half (6,382) located in Lampasas. The nearby lakes and reservoirs, municipal parks, stock shows and historical festivals continue to be a source of attraction to the area.

NOLANVILLE –
Nolanville is a small community in the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area. Over the past ten years, Nolanville’s population has more than doubled, going from 2,150 at the 2000 census to the 2010 census figure of 5,051.

The history behind the community’s name has been disputed. Some say the name Nolanville was chosen since the community was on the banks of Nolan Creek, while other historians insist it took Belton’s discarded name in order to preserve it. Nolanville had been the old name for Belton before the latter became county seat in 1852.

TEMPLE –
Temple, the second largest city in Bell county, is located near the county seat of Belton. The nearby Lake Belton, Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area and Miller Springs Nature Center offer plenty of outdoor activities from paddle boats and jet skis to fishing tournaments, hiking rock climbing and more.

Temple is home to an 18 hole championship golf course and several events providing entertainment for one and all. These include the Central Texas Airshow, a Texas Early Day Tractor and Engine Association Show, the Temple Jazz Festival and the July 4th All American Family Fun Fest! For musical and/or theatrical presentations, there is the Temple Civic Theatre, Temple Symphony Orchestra and the Cultural Activities Center.
